Birthstone Jewelry Makes a Dazzling Gift

Birthstone jewelry is made using specific gemstones assigned to each month of the year. The origin of the reliance that each stone possessed a extra virtue or power that could be transmitted to those born in that month goes back to at least the first century Ad.

Birthstone jewelry is believed to supply the wearer with luck, security from evil, good health, and many other useful results. In modern times, birthstone jewelry can be a perfect gift for any occasion - holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and any other time you need a thoughtful, unique, and reasonable gift.

Turquoise

Whatever the occasion, a gift of birthstone jewelry adds imagination and romance to what might otherwise be an ordinary gift. No matter how much more another gemstone might cost, a birthstone ring or necklace signifies something more intimately connected with the recipient's personality than any other stone.

Fine diamond jewelry embellished with birthstones is not hard to find online or offline, in division or jewelry stores. Due to its popularity and affordability, merchants ordinarily have a large choice of birthstone rings, pedants, earrings, necklaces and bracelets available. You can often find coupons and discounts on birthstone jewelry, especially nearby the Holidays, Valentines Day, and Mothers Day when it is a popular gift item.

Here is a handy list of months and their birthstones:

January - Garnet
February - Amethyst
March - Aquamarine, Bloodstone
April - White Topaz
May - Emerald
June - Pearl, Moonstone
July - Ruby
August - Peridot
September - Sapphire
October - Opal, Tourmaline
November - Yellow Topaz, Citrine
December - Turquoise, Blue Topaz

Young girls love birthstone jewelry, especially white gold charms or white gold pendants set with the accepted birthstone. They love dressing up like mom in "grown-up" jewelry, with something that makes it extra just for them.

Mothers also love diamonds and fine jewelry, and grandmothers are touched by the gift of fine jewelry containing the birthstone of a grandchild. Whoever receives your gift of fine diamond and birthstone jewelry will feel extra and loved.

Fashionable Summer Jewelry

When we think of summer, the first words which come to our minds are relaxation, fun and freshness. It's an explosion of joy and vitality, a time when we enjoy life to the fullest and leave behind all worries. We abandon ourselves to a great feeling and adventure and free time as we are fully aware of how high-priced these moments are and how much light they bring in our lives.

It's tasteless knowledge that we tend to express our personality and emotional states through the clothes we wear. We choose dark colors when we feel down or depressed and spellbinding one when we wish let people know that something good is happening in our lives and that makes us happy. And, since summer is such a vivid, optimistic and carefree time, our clothing for the season should reflect all that.

Turquoise

Summer wardrobes are normally as light and spellbinding as inherent and when it comes to clothes, designers' imagination knows no limits. Dresses, suits, jackets, T-shirts for all occasions and even boots are ready in a huge range of colors and patterns, and are compulsory items in every lady's wardrobe. But, as we know, every outfit we choose, whether formal or casual, is not faultless unless we add on the right jewelry and accessories.

For jewelry to be fashionable, it's not necessarily to be expensive. In fact, for a fresh and, at the same time, glowing look in the summer, nothing suits good then costume jewelry. The trends of the occasion place an emphasis on use of natural materials such as shells, wood or gemstones used to make bold and large pendants, necklaces, beads, bangles or cocktails rings.

The word which best describes today's summer jewelry form is uniqueness. Big shell or gemstone pendants and manifold cords or strands of Bohemian glass put together originate a look of great follow which suggests a return to basics, to nature. The same idea is reflected by the very favorite jewelry of chunky patterns suspended on long lengths or narrow strips of cloth fitting closely to the wearer's neck. These combinations are all expressions of a bold, free, almost wild style.

But, for those of us which are not so much into daring statements and show a rather romantic side, pieces of polished stones or strands of seed beads, whether single or multiple, seem like a good choice. And, since nature is the source of inspiration in latest jewelry trends, the colors they use are also borrowed from there. Thus, we can choose in the middle of shades of turquoise, coral, beige, brown, black, ivory, and olive, or, for an even more feminine appearance, soft touches of fuchsia, lavender, pale lime, and teal.

Well, we seem to have been able to form what is fashionable to wear in terms of jewelry, so we are now left with the task of disclosing how to wear them. Necklaces, chains and strings of beads are normally worn as single items. The new trends embrace though the idea of multilayered combinations bringing together elements varying from short to very long. Thus, for a more spectacular look, a short chain or string of small beads or false pearls can be combined with a long seaboard of huge beads.

So, in the end it doesn't seem so difficult to have a collection of fashionable jewelry to match those breathtaking outfits we can't wait to wear as soon as the hot season begins. With a puny imagination and a good sense of beauty, we can have the look of our dreams without having to spend a fortune on it.

How to Dress For Summer Weddings?

Summer in itself is something to celebrate. A season that demonstrates fun, life, warmth, and happiness. There is nothing sad or gloomy about summers. To put a cherry on top of the cake is an opportunity like a wedding taking place among family or friends. Therefore, summer combined with a wedding is duplicate celebration.

Who does not want to look good, trendy, stylish, and hot at a wedding? The best part about a summer wedding is that is allows one to have a collection of opportunities to dress up. The options are limitless when it comes to dressing for a summer wedding.

Turquoise

All the decisions that need to be made with regards to dressing up for summers will need a few bits of facts about the wedding itself. For example, what is the venue, what time is the wedding, is it going to be a formal event or a casual event, and if there is a theme or dress code to follow? Once you have portrayed an image of the wedding in your mind, think of what you can wear. Here are a few pointers that need to be carefully when dressing up for a summer wedding.

If the wedding is informal, planned at a beach perhaps, a light, airy sundress with sleek floral prints can be a exquisite pick. These dresses look exquisite when they are in pastel shades of pale pink, yellow, light blue, light green etc. Some open toed sandals and a matching clutch bag will perfectly faultless the outfit. Not only will this dress make you look stunning, it will prove to be comfortable also maintaining a cool body temperature mainly due to its light fabric and tendency of colour to reflect heat.

Strapless, sleeveless and cap sleeves dresses are more comfortable to wear in summers and they look trendier. Fabrics that go well with summers include cotton, satin, and chiffon. If the wedding is on a more formal basis, gowns, ankle length dresses, and knee length dresses in vibrant colours will look sensuous.

Colours like yellow, turquoise, emerald, lavender etc have proven to be used by most designers. Staying away from blacks and whites is a great option. Since bride wears white, it is great to let her gain all the attention.

Shoes with lace up and straps have taken the floor. They are designers' favourites. If you are not comfortable wearing pointed heels, you can all the time opt for apple-bottom wedge sandals. They give you the height and look along with a rare compound of comfort. Since you might want to dance for long, you should also look for relieve in what you wear. It is inevitable that you would not want to spoil your day just because it is difficult for you to move in your new pair of shoes.

Less makeup and delicate jewellery is the key to elegance this season. Wear a uncomplicated light shade gloss and do not over do your make up. Wear nothing heavy when it comes to jewellery. Leave all the shine and shimmer home, this is not the right season for it.

What is a Crystal?

In the movie "A Few Good Men", when Jack Nicholson asked Tom Cruise, "Are we clear?" he replied "Crystal". What this means is that his insight is as clear as crystal. So in general, the word crystal refers to a large extent, clarity. The word crystal is defined as transparent quartz occurring in nature. It is whether colorless or slightly tinged. The unique molecular buildings in crystal gives that arrangement and pattern extending in varied symmetrical and three spatial dimension solid.

There are basically seven types of crystal forms (ref. GemologyOnline.com). The following describes each law and natural minerals in which the crystal law can be found. The axes used here refer to the formation of a solid body with one cross center.

Turquoise

1. Cubic - Isometric

The cube is composed of 6 quadrate faces at 90 degree angles to each other. Each face intersects one of the crystallographic axes and is parallel to the other two. This law is also called isometric with 3 perpendicularly right angular intersected lines. The center of the intersection is equi-distant to the end of each line. The ends of each line (there are six) will form that cube. Diamond, Garnet, Rhodolite and Spinel all have this crystal form.

2. Tetragonal

The tetragonal law also has three axes that all meet at 90°. It differs from the isometric law in that the perpendicular axis is longer than the two horizontal axes which are the same length. Zircon has this crystal form.

3. Hexagonal

In the hexagonal law we have further axes, which give the crystals six sides. Three of these are equal in length and meet at 60° to each other. The C or vertical axis is at 90° to the shorter axes. Mineralogists sometimes divide this into two systems, the hexagonal and the trigonal, based on their external appearances. The hexagonal buildings can found in aquamarine, benitoite, beryl, emerald, heliodor and morganite.

4. Trigonal

Again, the trigonal law is a subsystem of the hexagonal. Most gem references will list these as hexagonal. The popular minerals with this crystal form consist of amethyst, citrine corundum, ruby, sapphire, tourmaline, eudialyte and quartz.

5. Orthorhombic

In this law there are three axes, all of which meet at 90° to each other. However, all the axes are a dissimilar length. This crystal law can be found in alexandrite, andalusite, chrysoberyl, Iolite, peridot, tanzanite, topaz and varisite.

6. Monoclinic

The above crystal systems all have axes sides that meet at 90°. In the monoclinic law all the axes are dissimilar lengths. Two of the axes meet at 90°, but the third one does not. Monoclinic crystal buildings can be found in azurite, diopside, feldspar, kunzite and nephrite.

7. Triclinic

In this law all the axes are dissimilar lengths and none of them meet at 90°. Turquoise has this crystal structure.

In the real world, natural crystal was a rarity to begin with, and now has become even rarer through human excavation. Therefore the crystal we have today is of course a man-made glass product. As the technology of glass manufacturing advances, crystals of varied sizes and shapes can be produced with a very high degree of clarity and light refraction as analogues to isometric patterns in the natural crystal.

Today's crystal is basically made by the same processes used in production other glass products. The recipe may vary in order to produce high transparent visual glass which is what most of the crystals are made of. Also the tool may differ due to the fact that production crystal requires larger blocks of molten glass. Most importantly, the down stream machining of the glass blocks is highly important and technically demanding. It takes many dissimilar types of cutting, beveling, lathing, grinding, and polishing to achieve the desired isometric shape. We of course must appreciate the crystal awards that are available and we enjoy today. They are product of a aggregate of high end technology as well as fine craftsmanship.

When seeing for the right pair of glasses, there is always one major factor you should look for; how well they suit your face. One of the following shapes should fit you, round, diamond, oblong, oval, triangle, upside down triangle and square. Also your optician can be very helpful when choosing the glasses for you

Turquoise

Face and Frames.

As we covered above, there are seven basic face shapes and you should always bear in mind what your shape is to settle which frames will suit you. Make sure you settle which face shape you are and that you choose the right size frame to suit you and the right shape. Try to corollary these guide, a round face has curved lines and the width and length are in proportions with no angles. To choose the right glasses for a round face, you should try angular narrow glasses to lengthen the shape of your face and look for glasses that have a wider buildings like rectangular shape frames. The oval face is notion to be the exquisite face shape due to the equal proportions. To keep the balance, look for frames that are as wide as the broadest part of the face. Triangle shape faces are narrow at the forehead and widen around the chin, to equilibrium out the top and lowest of the face choose a frame that is wider in shape. An upside down triangle is wider at the top than the bottom, to deal with this choose a lighter frame or even a rimless frame as this will draw attention to the top of your face.

A quadrilateral face has a strong jaw line as well as a broad forehead, while the width and the length are in proportion. To make the face seem longer, try narrow frames that have more width than depth. The solitaire face shape are narrow at the jaw and eye line, while the cheek bones are wider, tough this is the rarest face shape, you can still find frames to suit. A frame that have detailed brow-line or even rimless and maybe even cat eye shaped will suit very well with this face shape. The oblong shape face is longer than it is wide, and has a long cheek line. To make the face appear shorter and more balanced a frame that top to lowest depth is best to add depth to the face.

Of course the colour of your skin, hair and eyes can also work on your decision.Skin tone is often a traditional factor in choosing the right frame colour. All tones fall into two distinct colour bases blue which is cool or yellow which is warm. A cool complexion has blue or pink hues while a warm complexion has a yellow or peaches and cream colour. Eye colour is normally a secondary conjecture when choosing your glasses because of the wide range in eye colours. With blue eyes for example, they can range from violet right straight through to pale blue in colour.

Brown eyes can range from a light shade which is cool all the way to approximately black that is warm in colour. Hair colour should also be considered whether cool or warm. Strawberry blond, gray, white and light brown are cool colours. While golden blond, flat black brown and red hair are warmer colours. Once you settle whether you are warm or cool in colour you will be able to find the right frame to suit your needs. For cool colouring go for frames that are black, dark brown even plum or magenta also a dark turquoise would work surely well. For warm colouring go for frames in these colours, gold, red, copper warm blue or even inviting red.

Finally when it comes to choosing the right frames, at the end of the day you must feel totally happy and certain in your chosen glasses. As you will be wearing them every day to make sure that you eyesight stays the same in the future. Also your glasses can be a fashion or personality statement so enjoy wearing them.

Part 2 - Adventure Honeymooning in Australia

In "Part 1: Honeymooning at Australia's Resorts," I described romantic getaways at tropical resorts in Queensland, Australia, near the Great barrier Reef. But maybe you would like to compliment romance with excitement by experiencing some of the sights and sounds that make Australia truly unique.

First of all, you might head for the outback, starting your adventure in Alice Springs in the heart of Australia's Red Centre. There you can soar over grassy plains in a hot air balloon, see a Dry River Boat Race, or join a biking "safari" over the desert.

Turquoise

In Australia's outback, you can contact the Aboriginal culture straight through music, art, dance, and "Dreamtime" myths of creation by the campfire. You can bushwalk (Australian for on- and off-trail hiking), learn to craft spears and catch fish in the traditional way, ride a camel in the desert, see dinosaur footprints and Aboriginal rock carvings, or take a scenic flight over outback icons like Ayers/Uluru Rock, Australia's most preeminent rock monolith, which turns some spectacular colors at sunrise and sunset. As an extra bonus, you can take in the camel races near Ayers Rock.

You can select to cruise down the vast Katherine Gorge, located 212 miles southeast of Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory. The rugged outback of the Northern Territory also offers colorful characters, deep rainforests, rocky cliffs and escarpments, and a huge array of wildlife, with an occasional appearance by a freshwater crocodile. Darwin, a melting pot of cuisines and cultures, is located east of the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, where you can search for millions of migratory birds in the wetlands. The park is a gorgeous panorama of Aboriginal rock art, delicate water lilies, crocodiles, thundering waterfalls and sparkling waterholes.

In fact, Kakadu is just one of 550 national parks and 15 World Heritage-listed wonders in Australia. In the clear, turquoise waters of the Ningaloo Reef you can swim with the world's biggest fish, the diplomatic whale sharks, or swim or snorkel with dolphins, manta rays and hundreds of species of tropical fish.

In northern South Australia you can hunt for opals or sleep inexpressive in Coober Pedy, the "Opal Capital of the World," which is 525 miles north of Adelaide. It has inexpressive "dugout" homes, tours and diverse accommodations.

You might reconsider a visit to Phillip Island, where, every day at dusk, the island positively comes alive with thousands of dinky "fairy" penguins, waddling home in riotous packs and pairs after a long day of foraging for food in the icy sea. Ninety minutes from Melbourne, this island is home to koalas, abundant bird life and a large colony of fur seals between October and December. On Kangaroo Island, an ecological haven accessible from Adelaide, you can meet kangaroos, seals, sea lions, koalas, wallabies, bandicoots and platypus in the wild.

If you want to search for Australia's cities, you'll search for they are a blend of cultures, with a collection of theaters, restaurants, nightlife and events. The Paper Chase

The newest trend in home institute is the revival of wallpaper. Plain painted bare walls are now out of fashion and everybody is crying out for unique, former wallpaper designs that can be used as a feature in a room. Wallpaper is the ideal furnishing tactic for adding colour and texture to a room.

Wallpaper has been used to decorate the walls of homes for centuries, in the seventies everybody had geometric and psychedelic prints on their walls and the house was a busy mural of colours and designs, even the suburbs of Australia were filled with bold gorgeous patterns. During the 1980's wallpaper was assuredly out and people slaved away with steamers trying to eradicate every last puny piece of garish paper from their rooms. Then it was time for the monochrome interiors, which then of course led into the feature wall era.

Turquoise

In the last few years any way wallpaper trends have been creeping back into fashion and interior decorator magazines and anything who knows about institute these days is re-decorating with wallpaper in the forefront of their minds.

There are many contemporary homes that are again enjoying the psychedelic patterns first introduced in the 60's, whilst others prefer more former styles and colours.

Rene McIntosh, William Morris and Florence Broadhurst were all well-known designers of wallpapers and as you look colse to for your wallpaper choice you are very likely to see many of their designs used in both contemporary and former interior styles.

Her furnishings and wallpapers are also in high international inquire due to their unique and luxurious patterns.

Broadhurst combined fuscia pinks, lemon yellows, lime greens, vivid oranges, turquoise, blacks, metallic silvers and gold - all perfectly matching her own flamboyant personality. She was also predominant for printing onto transparent mylars, foils and metallic papers. She named her revolutionary handprinted creations, 'Vigorous designs for contemporary living'. Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a Glasgow born architect, and a designer and artist predominant colse to the world as one of the most creative figures of the early 20th century. Mackintosh's offering to contemporary architecture and institute is without a doubt one of the most impressive in the world of art and fashion.

William Morris patterns have been beloved since the end of the 19th century and have never lost their popularity. predominant for his patterns and wallpapers, William Morris led the Arts and Crafts movement and designed some of the most excellent patterns of wallpaper, many which are still reproduced today to decorate homes.

Iceland Trip report June 2006

Touching down at Keflavik airport in Iceland is all the time a somewhat surreal experience. The lunar scenery surrounding Reykjavik's international airport feels very foreign to the pastoral fields I had left. I barely noticed the 3 hour flight from Stansted as my mind flitted excitedly about what lay before me. The last time I had fished in Iceland had been on the Laxa I Adaldal in the North, and the Laxa í Kjos in the South West, and although I had loved every microscopic of the contradicting fishing techniques, I had come away feeling I had barely scratched the surface. I hoped this trip might give me much more of an understanding into what made 60,000 of the 297,000 people of this country obsessed with salmon fishing.

Haraldur Eiriksson (Halli), my colleague at the Reykjavik Angling Club, met me at the airport and we soon were heading north towards the area of Borgarfjördur and the fabled Nordurá, consistently one of the top three most productive rivers in Iceland. The Reykjavik Angling Club has held the lease here for 60 years, and the 55 km provides plentifulness of fishing for its 15 rods. It is broken down into two sections, the upper section starting to fish later in the season.

Turquoise

The drive of 45 minutes wound through thinkable, scenery of broad glacial valleys and high peaked cliffs, and Halli gave me the history and statistical run down of each river we passed. Approximately five hours after leaving Stansted I was casting a line over Laxafoss, salmon porpoising into the tail of the pool in front of me. Nordurá is a microscopic different to most Icelandic rivers in that it is indeed quite broad, although not particularly deep. The rocks strewn bottom can be clearly seen through the gin clear water manufacture the rifling hitch particularly enthralling to fish. Often the fish are seen following the fly before they accelerate and pounce. The valley and canyon etched out by some antique glacier contribute a dramatic vista to this clear running river, punctuated in places by clouds of steam from hot springs gushing freely from the ground. A exquisite way to warm up cold feet!

The Rjúpnahaed Lodge on Nordurá has to be seen to be believed, and is one of the finest I have stayed at on any salmon river. The lodge is more like a underground hotel. The standard of food and attentive assistance are fantastic, and it is adequate with such luxuries as wireless broadband throughout the building. It is a typically Scandinavian edifice, wooden throughout, comfortable rooms with ensuite bathrooms and gallons of hot water. There are two drying rooms, one in the main building, and one at the end of the annex opposite. Both have hot air blowers to stick waders on which means no more slightly damp socks! The sitting room has the most thinkable, view of the Laxfoss from its windows.

The following morning we bounced out of the lodge like coiled springs, ready to do battle with those fresh fish that would have run up from the sea overnight. Halli drove us down to the coveted Stokkhylsbrot pool in the canyon, often one of the biggest producers in the early season. As we descended down the walk way the river opened up beneath us, the early morning sun lighting up the whole pool with that beautiful greenish blue colour. Polaroids were donned and the frantic scanning began. I headed down to the river while my companion scrambled additional round to gain a good vantage point of the tail. I began to strip line off my reel and loosen the shoulders with a merge of Spey casts higher up the pool until I was alerted by a whistle from Halli, accompanied by frantic gesticulations that I took to mean there was a pod of fish keeping in the tail.

After I had received direction from additional gestures on high the line sang out over the upper riffle, and the hitched Sunray began its drift manufacture that exquisite greasy v-wake. Over the lie it travelled and I tensed up expectantly, eagerly waiting for that bulge and splash.... An ooooooh, closely followed by an aaahhhh and something muttered in Icelandic that I presumed to mean " Damn!" suggested that the fish had moved to the fly, but not taken. My heart was thumping as I punched out someone else Spey cast to the same distance of line, again waiting as the fly bumbled over the outside and towards the lie. Nothing.. Time to convert tactics. I flicked the line up, grabbed the fly and switched to a small Loop Bottle Temple Dog. Time to drift it right past its nose...

Again I punched the line out over the pool, this time with more of a quadrate cast followed by a quick upstream mend to allow it some depth. The fly came screaming round the current and Approximately on cue as it passed through the lie I was rewarded with a wrench and a weight on the rod. The reel made a satisfying screech and the fish was on! Yells of encouragement came from Halli's lofty perch, and he began to scramble down the bank to help me land it. After a few good runs and some rather un-nerving head shakes, the steady side ways pressure unbalanced him and I slid him towards the bank before firmly grabbing the wrist and keeping him underwater. A beautiful bar of silver, still covered in long tailed sea lice. I immediately put his head back into the current, and he revived rapidly, breaking my grip with a flick of his tail. I watched him glide over the pool in the clear water, no doubt to sulk in some sheltered lie.

The rest of the morning was spent trying to raise fish on a hitched Sunray, and having had a few fantastic silver slashes at the fly which gave us a huge sense of pleasure, nothing additional indeed hooked up. Rods were fastened to the car and this happy microscopic band sped off in Halli's comfortable 4x4 to try our luck at Hitará, a mere 30 minutes drive away.

Hitará is a very different river to Nordurá, smaller and more intimate in nature. On coming we headed inside to have a look at the fish book to see how they were getting on. The sitting room in this lovely microscopic lodge holds one of the largest collections of stuffed birds in Iceland. It also has a magnificent window over seeing the pool ten yards below it. As we sat seeing at the catch statistics sipping coffee Halli spotted three salmon in the middle of six and ten pounds come gliding up through the tail of the pool, directly into the glassy section below us. We watched in awe as they hung there, Approximately suspended in air in the clarity of the water. A flick of their tails, and they continued on their way towards the falls.

Hitará is much more like a typical Icelandic river, complex currents, clear pools, small flies and technical fishing over its 29 kilometres. The river accommodates six rods on the main salmon section and is ideal for intact parties. A singular handed rod or a indeed light two hander are ideal here, and anglers are rewarded with quite a amount of fish over the seven pound mark. I especially enjoyed fishing the upper stretch; it is quite wild, not unlike a Hebredian river bank, and apart from a good amount of salmon caught up here towards the end of July there is exquisite Arctic char and trout fishing. The char have been caught up six and seven pounds and add a great diversity to the fishing if the salmon fishing is slow.

After a huge amount of fun on Hitará and a quick look at the Skuggafoss falls on Langá its neighbour, once again we saddled up and headed east. Running into the same river principles as Nordurá is Glúfurá, one of the most enthralling rivers I have ever seen. Glúfurá is a three rod river, most of which is contracted through a stunning canyon that causes some fantastic pocket water, ideal for hitching small Francis and tubes. Although it is 19 km long, salmon can only navigate 13 km as far as the Klaufhamarsfoss Falls.

This river indeed made me excited, and is indeed exquisite for reasonably fit fishermen who enjoy stealthy technical fishing. Your first see is of this turquoise clear water flowing through the canyon as you drive over the road bridge near Svignaskard, and immediately has you straining you neck to see behind you. From the edge of the canyon it is inherent to peer over the edge straight in the crystal clear water about 50 ft below you. Fishing this river was an absolute joy, and I could have spent an whole week losing myself surrounded by its rocks, white water pockets and salmon. Stealth is surely an asset as there is not much room to manoeuvre in the middle of the salmon and angler, but what a river for learning salmon behaviour!

The Glúfurá lodge is very new with all modern conveniences along with a hot tub. There are four roomy en-suite bedrooms, and even though it comes self catering, the staff at Nordurá can bring food over from the lodge and turn this into a fully catered operation. It would be exquisite for a party seeing to relax and do some enthralling fishing.

Continuing our path east we arrived at Grimsá. Grimsá has fantastic topography with many hard bands of volcanic rock creating some truly stunning river features. There are over 70 marked pools along its 42 km length, many with enthralling characters all of their own. It is a much coveted river, and has been fished by international clientele for many years...when space has become available! At the bottom of the river is yet someone else Laxfoss, although this one is somewhat unique. The Lodge, which even makes Nordurá look shabby, sits atop a bluff over seeing the Laxafoss. Clients can indeed watch salmon leaping the falls through the huge panoramic windows while they have dinner!

Where the main current comes over the falls the river opens out into a form of bay, and it is inherent to wade out and fish over the current as if you were on a bonefish flat. It was here among the currents of Thingnesstrengir that I found myself before dinner, casting a large plastic tube fly over the current and stripping it back as fast as I could. This is often an highly productive recipe with fresh running fish, and this was no exception. On the third cast a fish exploded onto the fly, and proceeded to scream up and down the pool before tail walking a merge of times. I managed to gain operate and bullied him in hard. If I am to publish a fish, which I all the time do unless it is damaged, I like to play them as hard as inherent so that they may swim away without being completely exhausted. I use a similar philosophy when it comes to saltwater fishing. After a great fight on a singular handed rod my guide tagged and released it to continue on its way up the falls.

By this stage the 24 hour daylight and land of the mid night sun were starting to take their toll a microscopic and I was starting to feel less like a coiled spring and more like one that had exceeded its elastic limit! We spent a magical time in the early hours of the morning sitting by the falls watching the salmon throw themselves at the torrent of water. Often the fish hung to the side if the white water with their backs and tails exposed to the air as they gained their breath for the next obstacle. The tail would quicken, and then with a flash of silver would hurl itself at the white water. It was a lovely way to discontinue our stay.

Once again it was time to head south, this time back to Laxa i Kjos which I looked transmit to with great anticipation. The route down took us past someone else understated salmon river, the Andakílsá. This serene microscopic river has only about 5km of fishing in the middle of a merge of rods on the salmon section, but meanders its way through the grassy meadows and has highly easy entrance for those who are less mobile. There are cut off salmon and trout sections, with the trout section also producing good numbers of sea run arctic char.

As we drove over the road bridge of Laxa í Kjos, we immediately stopped the vehicle and wandered back to peer over the bridge into the pockets below. This is somewhat of a ritual. Having just had the highest spring tide of the month we thinkable, to see a few grey shapes hanging in the current below, but the angle of the sun made it tricky to spot them. I turned to look up the valley to see the river cascading down the appetizing seeing tiered holes, pockets and rifles. It was here among the rocks and white water that I had learnt the art of hitched flies under the watchful eye of my guide, and at last gained faith in fishing small flies for salmon. Having cut my teeth as a guide for three seasons in Norway and subsequently fished in Russia, I had all the time opinion big was beautiful. On some days we had taken fish on size 16 red and black Francis', skittered over the quite glides in the middle of the white water. I had never believed it until indeed experiencing it, and this much lighter approach had been somewhat of a revelation to me, completely changing the way in which I now fished for salmon.

As I scanned the river my eye plainly came to rest on the new lodge nestled in the foreground over seeing one of the most productive stretches. I eagerly jumped back into the vehicle and in 3 minutes we were standing in the new hall, admiring the modern invent and the vaulted ceilings. To the same standard as the Grimsá lodge, the new Kjos lodge is indeed superb. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with all the fittings and facilities you would expect to find in a capability hotel in Reykjavik. The front terrace opens directly onto the river providing the most fantastic view. The develop of the fishermen on the lower section can be indeed be followed from the relieve of the leather sofas.

The Laxa í Kjos has about 17km that the salmon can pass before being concluded at the very dramatic falls above the canyon. With over 100 marked pools it is the shear diversity of fishing here that makes it so exciting. The upper stretch has fantastic rock pools leading down through the canyon, and Pokafoss falls here will enchant you. The River then moves out of the hard band of rock and meanders its way through beautiful gravel pools in the midsection. Stealth is an asset here, and a breeze to riffle the outside helps hugely to preclude detection. The meadows below are exceptionally good for sea trout, before it piles through additional larval formations as mentioned before in the lower part.

Two kilometres below Thórufoss the Bugda, a small but very productive tributary runs into the Kjos. Bugda resembles in places an English chalkstream, and is the last place one would expect to catch salmon, but it is exquisite to fish with a small 6# and dry fly. I was flabbergasted when I fished it last in taking a 7lbs cock salmon on a size 12 Humpy dry fly. It indeed came up and took it like a trout, indeed I opinion it was a trout until it jumped and spun off down the pool.

From Kjos we drove cross country, again heading South East and skirting to the North of Reykjavik in the Thingvellir National Park. The only way to delineate the scenery is huge. Big sky, big mountains, big lake. The old lava flows covered in cracks and crevasses (that you can walk through if you wish) end instantly at the waters edge of lake Thingvallavatn, the largest spring fed lake in Iceland at 84 km². Apart from keeping large trout and four species of char, Thingvallavatn is also the source of the Sog. Although the Sog is not what it used to be due to the Hydro electric plant at its head, but it still has a good people of larger than midpoint salmon.

The main beats are Alvidra, Bíldsfell, Ásgardur and Sydri-Brú. The river is large, wide and deep with some larval fissures clearly outlined in the clear blue water. It does have exquisite entrance over its 20km, a amount of comfortable microscopic self catering lodges, and is good qualified to those who like to fish with a two handed rod. For those that don't wish to self cater, there is a good bistro right on the river bank. Although we fished Sog hard, we failed to move a fish, although I was captivated by the clarity of the water in the lower beats. Any second I was expecting something to rise from the deep fissure and engulf the fly, but alas it was not to be. This river is surely good fished with a sink tip and heavier flies, as not only is it deep, but it is deceptively fast flowing. The Sog opens on the 14th June and runs through until the 28th of September with the prime being in August. Even though we were there a microscopic too early for optimum fishing, it was a beautiful river to fish.

As well as the Sog there is someone else river that runs into the Hvítá which should quicken the hearts of any truly adventurous salmon fishermen, and that is the Stóra-Laxá. A microscopic additional North East from the Sog this thinkable, river spends 10km of its distance running through a canyon called Laxárgljúfur that is some places is over 150 metres deep. At this stage it is Approximately exclusively fished by Icelandics, and provides some of the most enthralling fishing for big fish that I believe exists. Ten rods fish over four fishing areas with beats one and two being grouped together. These flow through the alluvial plains below the canyon, and are indeed where most of the fish are caught (mostly as this is where most people fish). The midpoint catch is 300 fish a year, but quite often fish of over 20lbs are a reality here. Two handed rods and large flies are the way to combat it, and is reminiscent of Norwegian style fishing. Many of the Icelandics have a love hate association with this river, but it has Approximately made me more excited than any other as it is a real challenge!

We turned our heads for home and began the hours drive back to Reykjavik. Even here the game was not completed as we stopped at the fish counter on the Ellidaár. This small river flows through the city, and is often the first sense that many have of salmon fishing there. The Angling Club has father and son days where the knowledge and joy gained over the years can be passed down from one to the other. The numbers were up, and as we watched fishermen from the road bridge we could see fish pushing up through the pool on the evening tide. The time had gone so fast, and even though I had the opportunity to learn a vast amount more about this magnificent country, I still feel like I have barely scratched the surface! I do now know why 60,000 members of the people are obsessive salmon fisherman......

We will be contribution rods on all of these rivers for the coming season, and many more.

The American West
There is nothing more American than the cowboys and cowgirls of the old west. They symbolize American individualism, survival, and ruggedness. The cowboys and cowgirls were-and still are-rebels who spent their lives in the outdoors with their horses and cattle.

They lived their lives on their own terms and were experts in gun, horse, and cattle skills. Because of their extra place in American history and culture, Americans love to wear cowboy and cowgirl western wear as a part of their own American identity.

Turquoise

Past Western Wear
In the past 60 years, western wear meant dressing up in full cowboy or cowgirl outfits with a costume-like theme. This fashion statement was especially big back in the 1950s when the western theme became a major part of the beloved culture.

On T.V., western shows were very beloved together with the singing cowboy shows where country music stars, like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, sang weekly. It was also during this time that western movies became big hits with stars like John Wayne, Audie Murphy, and James Arness recreating the old west on the big screen. Even cartoons and kid shows picked up the western theme with characters like Howdy Doodie. It was also during this time that denim jeans became a part of everyone's wardrobe.

After the 50s, the western theme diminished, but the jeans and blue denim lived on as an American classic.

Today's Western Wear
Today, the western theme is back partly for its American ruggedness and partly out of American patriotism in supporting our troops around the world; but this time, the trend in both women's and men's fashion is to add a Dash of western flair instead of a whole wild west "costume".

In this way, men and women can show their "American pride and ruggedness" while still being fashion forward. Here are some examples of western flair...

For Women:
A long flowing dressy skirt and blouse with a western-style denim vest.

• A short dress with women's cowboy boots
• Jeans and a white shirt with Navajo-style turquoise and silver necklace, anklet and earrings
• Jean skirt with contemporary top and boots
• contemporary outfit with a women's western belt and buckle
• Outdoor wear or boho dress with a women's cowboy hat
• Full western wedding dress with fancy cowboy boots and cowboy hat and veil

For Men:
Full company suit and portfolio with men's cowboy boots

• contemporary jeans or khaki pants with a contemporary shirt that has the western yoke stitching
• contemporary pants with a men's western belt and belt buckle
• Casual wear with a easy men's cowboy hat
• Full wedding tux in a western style with fancy cowboy boots and cowboy hat

New Zealand - One of the Most beautiful Countries In The World

"Clean", "Green", "God Zone" - these are but a few of the names given to New Zealand. And minuscule wonder when you reconsider that because of its relatively small habitancy and isolation, it still contains some of the most pure and gorgeous landscape in any place to be found.

Just take for example the fresh water that you can drink. In New Plymouth, a small city placed in Taranaki, you can drink water right from a well that has its source under Mount Taranaki, that is full of natural minerals and is some of the most healthiest waters you can perhaps drink.

Turquoise

The sky is clear blue, gorgeous oceans from turquoise green in Kaikora to pearl blue in Picton with beaches ranging from black iron sand to golden and even white sand. If you are fortunate enough to visit this country then you will be amazed by some of the beaches placed in the Bay Of Islands. Many of these beaches are home to a wide array of edible shellfish. Many of the beaches are so isolated that very few habitancy visit them and so have an fullness of fresh fish. Recently the Woman's World surfing champs were held in New Zealand due to its extraordinary surf beaches.

As you travel the countryside you will be amazed by the green coverage of grass that's like a deep velvet floor covering as most of New Zealand's export is dairy and meat products. This floor covering of green is then covered by much native bush and pine forests. For those who like skiing, there are a number of ski mountains in both the North and South Islands. One such world celebrated place is Queenstown placed at the bottom of the South Island.

The South Island is full of Mountain ranges, bush, Lakes and rivers. Lakes so clear you can see the bottom. If you havnt done so already then Google New Zealand images and see for yourself whats in store for you before you visit.

Due to its temperate zone the weather is warm and good for growing all sorts of flowers and vegetables. But if you do visit during summer remember to bring a hat some shades and some sunscreen as the ozone layer is thinner in this region of the world and so burning in the sun is very likely.

Caribbean Sailing: Celebrating Carnival

It happens every time while your Caribbean navigation charter. You are relaxing onboard in a peaceful, idyllic anchorage - the crystal clear turquoise water gently lapping against the hull- when suddenly, the warm tropical breezes lure you ashore like a siren song with the sound of a party! Every year, the Caribbean plays host to hundreds of separate parties fluctuating from religious celebrations, music festivals, fishing tournaments, sporting competitions to navigation regattas. No matter where you go, a party in paradise can approximately all the time be a part of your Caribbean navigation vacation. The most party, however, is the every year Carnival celebration. Basically a road party, it is a fun aggregate of party, theater, art and folklore tradition. For each island, the every year Carnival is big business, and preparations for the next one begin approximately the day after the last one ends.

The history of Carnival celebrations began hundreds of years ago in Italy where Catholics held wild costume festivals right before Lent. Since they were not supposed to eat meat while Lent, the festival got the name, "Carnevale", which means "to put away meat." The renowned Carnival celebrations at last spread to other Catholic countries, including France, Spain and Portugal. As Catholic Europeans set up colonies and entered the slave trade, Carnival took root in the New World as well.

Turquoise

Today, Carnival celebrations are found throughout the islands. They have been transformed, however, from those original Italian costume festivals to something distinctly Caribbean that differs from island
to island. The Caribbean Carnival is a blending together of many European cultures, as well as African dance and music. Important to the celebration of the Caribbean Carnival is the African traditions of parading in costumes and masks and bright in circles straight through villages in order to bring good fortune, heal problems and calm angry spirits. Carnival is an Important way for the habitancy of the Caribbean to express their rich African cultural traditions by creating explicate masks and costumes. It takes months and a lot of power and creativity to come up with a thought and organize costumes for the dancers to depict a base theme.
When Carnival first began, it was renowned from December 26th until Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday). Still using this original time, Trinidad has the largest carnival, with daily events for four weeks Important up to Shrove Tuesday. The last two days are the frenzied culmination of all the parades, the largest floats and the final competitions to determine the winners of assorted contests.

Other islands hold their carnivals at separate times so as not to clash and allow habitancy to enjoy several celebrations while the year. If you are planning a Caribbean navigation vacation, check with each island's tourist office to get a agenda of events. It is great fun to plan a charter nearby Carnival. Although each island may hold Carnival while separate times of the year, there are some base elements to the celebration. Many of the islands will use Carnival as the perfect opportunity to commemorate other events in the island's past. All will comprise explicate costumes (Mas) worn by many people. Colorful floats and road parades (Pan) are accompanied by lots of music (especially Calypso) and bands, and there is ordinarily an elected King and Queen.

Following is a perceive of Carnival celebrations throughout the islands:

British Virgin Islands
The biggest event in the Bvi, this Carnival goes by two names. Some locals refer to it as the, "August Festival", while others call it the, "Emancipation Festival." It begins July 1st and ends August 31st. This every year celebration marks the 1834 Emancipation Act which abolished slavery in the British West Indies. All the islands celebrate with events taking place across the region, although most celebrations are held in Road Town, Tortola. Visitors are in a for treat including live music, dancing, road performers, parties, parades and food and drink booths laced with a inescapable Caribbean flavor. A hotly contested calypso competition leads to the coveted crowning of the Calypso King. There is also a competition for a festival Queen. Events not to miss comprise the food booths set up near the waterfront in Road Town; the children's pageants; calypso, reggae and costume competitions; bands on huge sound trucks cruising the waterfront accompanied by crowds of dancers; steel bands on floats; all night parties and the grand costume parade.

St. Martin/Sint Maarten
This island is unique because it has a French and Dutch side-both of which are highly inescapable from one another. The way in which Carnival is renowned is also distinct, depending on which side of the island you are on. Since French St. Martin is considered a part of Guadeloupe, see below. Carnival in Dutch Sint Maarten begins with the Balloon Jump-Up after Easter and lasts until April 30th, the birthday of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The Balloon Jump-Up celebrates the opportunity of Carnival Village, an area two blocks from Front road that houses more than 100 food booths. The Jump-Up parades are a top Carnival attraction with their brightly costumed dancers, floats and live bands. The largest of the processions is the Grand Carnival Parade, which features elaborately dressed Carnival dancers winding along a four-mile route. In in the middle of parades, spectators are entertained by steel drum bands from other Caribbean islands. Competitions (especially Calypso competitions) are an integral part of the festivities. A original art form of the Caribbean, Calypso competitions test the improvisational and narrative skills of a solo performer. The winner goes up against the former years' Calypso King or Queen in a battle for the new title. The day after a new Calypso monarch is crowned, a Jump-Up Parade called Jouvert (pronounced Jou-vey) begins at 4 a.m. And lasts until sunrise. The grand finale to Carnival is the Last Lap Jump-Up, lead by King Momo, the straw outline who reigns over Carnival. The burning of King Momo signals the end of Carnival. Local folklore is that he takes the sins of the villages with him, thus leaving the island pure.

St. Barths
St. Barths is one of the three countries in the world where Carnival truly ends at the end of Ash Wednesday. It officially begins the Saturday preceding Ash Wednesday, but unofficially starts the day after New Year's Day. while this unofficial time, the Carnival associations begin rehearsals in the road and habitancy spend their time development the gorgeous floats for the parades. The lawful start of Fat Saturday (Samedi Gras) is an all night dance party. The king of Carnival is King Vaval - a giant mannequin. He is featured with revelers and floats on Fat Sunday (Dimanche Gras) when habitancy enjoy Jump-Ups while the day and all night parties. There are parties every night while the lawful celebration of Carnival. On Fat Monday (Lundi Gras), everybody dresses in red for the day of the red devils. The costumes are gorgeous works of art decorated with glitter and reflective silver. Finally, Ash Wednesday is the day everybody dresses in black and white for the funeral of King Vavel. Festivities continue until 7 p.m. When the straw outline of King Vavel is burned, marking the end of Carnival.

St. Kitts and Nevis
Carnival on St. Kitts and Nevis officially begins on Christmas Eve and ends on New Year's Day. The unofficial start occurs months before with costume development and float building. The Carnival season consists of many separate activities such as beauty pageants, road jamming, calypso shows and competitions, masquerades, mocko jumbies and other original folklore.

Antigua
The Antigua Carnival dates back to August 1, 1834, when slavery was abolished and locals went to the streets to joyfully express their celebration of freedom. The celebration prolonged until 1957, when it was officially declared Carnival. Antigua's Carnival all the time takes place nearby the last week of July straight through the first week of August. The ten days of revelry includes marches, parades, Jump-Ups, shows, and dances to the beat of Calypso. The Antigua Carnival is a great time for visitors on a Caribbean navigation charter to immerse themselves with the culture of this island. while Carnival, St. John teems with road performers, food and drink booths. Pan Ban- steel pan orchestras- are followed by dance troupes wearing intricate costumes. The bright event culminates with a immense road party called Jouvert, (meaning "day break"), where everybody is on their feet dancing to the beat of steel drums.

Montserrat
Carnival in Montserrat is renowned in the middle of Christmas and New Year's Day. The festival includes steel bands, Jump-Ups, King and Queen competitions, and parades. One of the highlights of Carnival is the calypso competition finals where performers dress up and act out their calypsos. Calypso is ordinarily a group comment about things that are going on in the island as well as feelings about the current government. There is ordinarily a double entendre and the songs tend to be quiet risqué. The winner of the competition is awarded prizes and celebrity status on the island, and they will describe Montserrat in the inter-island competitions. Also the calypso competition, Carnival also includes steel bands, sporting events, barbecues, and dancing contests.

Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe's Carnival also finishes on Ash Wednesday. Rehearsals begin in January, with groups disguised in costumes dancing and singing in the streets. Carnival reaches its feverous pitch in the middle of Shrove Sunday and Ash Wednesday. Shrove Sunday begins with parades, dancing, costumes, masquerades and road parties. On Shrove Tuesday, pajama clad masqueraders dance throughout the day. On Ash Wednesday, Guadeloupe's unique celebration of Carnival is apparent as revelers dressed up in black and white he and she wolves take to the streets. That evening, with habitancy dancing and dining, Carnival comes to a close with the cremation of King Vaval. Midway in the middle of Carnival and Easter Sunday, Carnival is revived for one day at Mid-Lent Thursday, where revelers, depicting themselves as devils, dress up in red and black costumes.

Dominica
Mas Domnik is held at the original pre-Lenten time. while the ten day celebration, there are lots of activities taking place nearby the island. It is a feast of calypso shows and road Jump-Ups. The opportunity parade kicks off Carnival. The Queen contestants, calypsonians, the most popular bands, habitancy in sensay costumes, moko jumbies, cheerleaders and many more habitancy parade straight through the streets in a kaleidoscope of colors encouraged by a huge crowd of onlookers. Throughout Carnival, there are calypso competitions, costume contests, road jams, sensay festivals and beauty pageants. On the two final days of Carnival, music, culture and habitancy merge to celebrate with costumes, bands and parades. The final event takes place on Ash Wednesday with the burning of the Carnival King and the beginning of Lent.

Barbados
Beginning in May and continuing throughout the summer with assorted events, Crop Over is Barbados' biggest, loudest and best-loved festival. Dating back to the late 1700s and early 1800s, when Barbados was one of the biggest sugar producers in the world, the end of the sugar cane harvest was renowned with big parties. Today, the celebration continues with more flamboyance and extravaganza. The event officially begins in early July with a ceremonial delivery of the last sugar cane harvest and the crowning of the Carnival King and Queen. The following five weeks is marked by a heady mix of live music (including tuk, calypso, soca and road bands), dancing, food and craft markets, cultural presentations and much more. The Pic-O-De-Crop is part of the Carnival celebrations and is a part of a fierce competition to pick the best calypso band. The best bands then compete against one an additional one in a bid to win the honor of taking on the reigning Calypso Kings. This is a great community event. Carnival culminates with a parade called, "Grand Kadooment." Costumed bands take to the streets for the final competition for "Designer of the Year" crown. Revelers dressed in explicate costumes depicting assorted themes wind their way straight through the streets, dancing as Djs play the most popular music.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines
Vincy Mas, as Carnival has come to be known since 1977, was first renowned as a pre-Lenten festival by French colonists in the late eighteenth century. The observance of Carnival as a celebration of the privileged class prolonged under the rule of Great Britain, who renowned the four days preceding Ash Wednesday as their annual, "Masked Balls". With the coming of freedom, the ex-slaves took Carnival to the streets introducing African cultural traditions. In 1872, the colonial authorities attempted to ban the celebration. On February 11, 1879, Vincentians decided that Carnival would be celebrated, ban or no ban. The habitancy resisted the armed troops of the empire, Important to riots in the streets, and the St. Vincent Carnival Riots became part of the island's history. The peoples' festival prolonged to grow until 1973, when the Carnival amelioration Committee took payment to put resources into the planning and organization of the carnival. In 1976, the Cdc decided to turn the dates of the lawful celebration of Carnival, and the rest is history. beginning the end of June, Vincy Mas today is a ten day festival of Pan (panorama), Calypso and Mas (costumes), where community becomes classless and non-racial. The streets of Kingstown come to be a hive of activity with nearby the clock excitement. Vincy Mas is filled with mirth and gaiety. The streets are filled with the constant hammering of Dj music blaring out of temporary bars. assorted competitions, including costumed bands, Queen Shows (beauty pageants) and calypso are all part of the celebration. If you are on a Caribbean navigation charter, you will be overwhelmed by the riot of color, clash of music, display of talent and the teeming mass of humanity that overtakes the island while Vincy Mas.

Grenada
Carnival is one of Grenada's biggest every year festivals. renowned for its color, creativity and unique cultural character, Carnival celebrations are held while the second week in August, just one week after Emancipation Day festivities. Although each parish has its own brand of original costume or mas, the main Carnival activity is in the streets of St. George's. Festivities begin in July with the opportunity of assorted calypso tents, where singers vie for a opportunity to compete in the National Calypso Monarch Competition. In early August, Carnival celebration gains momentum. Every night of the week, there are cultural presentations and calypso shows, while steel bands describe for the upcoming Panorama competition. Carnival week proceeds with the National Carnival Queen show, the Soca Monarch Finals, and the Panorama Steel Band Competition. Carnival Sunday brings the Dimanche Gras Show- featuring the Kings and Queens of the Fancy Mas Bands in competition for King and Queen of Carnival. From dawn on Carnival Monday, the streets of Grenada's towns are filled with original masqueraders depicting Jab-Jabs (devils) and group commentaries of the highlights of the past year (Ole Mas). Spectators, and masqueraders alike dance in the streets to the sound of steel bands and popular music played by Djs. On Monday afternoon, the fancy or pretty bands appear on the streets as they make their way to the big stage for the fierce Band of the Year competition. The road party continues late into the evening as the Monday Night Mas Bands weave their way straight through the streets dancing and waving brightly colored fluorescent lights and continues until the early hours of Tuesday morning. On Carnival Tuesday, spectators and masqueraders again dance straight through the streets with the fancy bands. The party continues until midnight, when the lawful Carnival celebration ends.

Although the dates of the music competitions, Jump-Ups, food booths, beauty pageants, costume parades and others activities that make up the festivities vary from island to island, Carnival celebrations are held annually straight through the Caribbean. Even though each island may have its own twist to the event, it is an opportunity for the habitancy of the Caribbean to express themselves artistically and socially. Carnival is a celebration of the sheer joy of life! Regardless of what your group status is or the color of your skin, everyone, including spectators, is a part of the celebration. No matter where you go, you do not need an explicate festival to have a great time in the islands, but a Carnival celebration can be a fun part of your Caribbean navigation vacation.

Remember, "Dis party can't done 'til morning come."

Check Out Sterling Silver Kingman Turquoise Striking Simplicity Elongated Ring

Sterling Silver Kingman Turquoise Striking Simplicity Elongated Ring Overview

Marilyn Monroe Artwork by Andy Warhol

Andrew Warhola (known as Andy Warhol) painted a variety of paintings of the actress Marilyn Monroe after she committed suicide in 1962. Warhol made it his goal to mass-produce his art by using a recipe called silk screen. This recipe involves enlarging and transferring a photo on to silk. A variety of colors are printed on to a screen using a rubber squeegee.

For his paintings of Marilyn Monroe, Warhol used a picture by Gene Korman from a publicity shoot for the film, Niagara. Andy Warhol painted Marilyn Monroe's paintings with one color: green, blue, lemon yellow turquoise. Next he silk screened her face on top. In this way, he created separate styles and depicted many separate colors. In the paintings, she was whether by herself, multiplied in a grid or doubled. After four months, Andy Warhol's paintings were complete. Andy Warhol issued a portfolio of his Marilyn Monroe paintings in 1967.

Turquoise

Andy Warhol interest in fame inspired him to make his Marilyn Monroe paintings. Warhol admired Marilyn Monroe as a star. He was fascinated by her attractiveness and conception of her as a role model. In his art work, he portrayed Monroe as not only beautiful, but also dark and mysterious. Warhol invented the phrase, "fifteen minutes of fame" which means a celebrity such as Monroe catches the public's concentration for a short lived period of time. Then, the media moves on to other celebrities who fascinate the world.

Andy Warhol graduated from the Carnegie invent of Technology with a major in pictorial design. After graduating, he started his career as a commercial illustrator. After failed attempts at exhibiting his work in the 1960s, Warhol decided to join pop culture into his works of art. Known as pop art, Warhol used every day objects as subjects for his paintings. He became famous as "Pope of Pop" for his paintings. In addition to Marilyn Monroe, Warhol painted other celebrities in "The Factory", Andy Warhol's studio in New York.

Those curious in Andy Warhol's artwork and paintings of Marilyn Monroe can view them at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Andy Warhol Museum is one of the biggest museums featuring only one artist in the world. The museum features more than four thousand works of art by Warhol. His works of art comprise paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, films and videos. In addition to Warhol's artwork, visitors can find facts on Andy Warhol's life.
